L2-L3: Introduction to Sea Kayaking for Women (2 Days)

Please visit River and Ocean's site to book.

Kelly and Laura will be leading this weekend adventure for Cali Collective and River & Ocean. This 2-day introduction to sea kayaking takes place in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area! Our weekend will begin the protected waters of Horseshoe Cove developing your fundamental sea kayaking skills. Here you will be introduced to the basic paddle strokes necessary for effectively and efficiently maneuvering your kayak.  We will also learn and practice several techniques for rescuing yourself and others. The evening will be spent in the quaint Marin Headlands Hostel where we will provide a nourishing dinner.

On day two, we will embark on a short journey along the picturesque Marin County waterfront. During our journey, we will build on lesson learned the previous day, focusing on boat control and touching upon topics relevant to sea kayaking in San Francisco Bay – including practical navigation, dealing with boat traffic, tides and currents, and much more! If you are new to kayak touring, this weekend immersion will give you a solid foundation to build your paddling passion on.
